tabi mittens

Pattern Details

Two years ago, we put out a knit version of this pattern and the crochet grrrlz have been asking for a version of their own ever since! Inspired by tabi shoes, these mittens separate the pointer finger from the rest of the hand for an unexpected design addition.

measurements

Total length: 9 in (23 cm)

Top of wrist to tallest finger: 7 in (18 cm)

Hand circumference (without stretch): 10 in (25 1/2)

Wrist circumference (without stretch): 7 inches (18 cm)

materials

5mm crochet hook

Size 4 yarn, held double (Glove pictured was made with 2 strands of Drops Melody)

Tapestry needle

1 stitch marker

gauge

14 stitches by 14 rows = 4x4 in (10x10 cm)

Hold two strands together and use single crochet stitch with a 5mm hook

technique

Made from the bottom up, holding two strands of yarn throughout. Start by using the half double crochet stitch to create a flat ribbing-like texture for the cuff. Seam the cuff together and begin working in the round to build the hand of the glove from the bottom up, sectioning pieces off for the thumb, then pointer finger, then the rest of the fingers.

abbreviations

Ch - chain
