charm clutch
Pattern Details
The cutest clutch that fits all two (2) o f your date night essentials: your phone and lip gloss. Knit it in an hour or two, felt to perfect the shape, and add your favorite charms for some sparkle.
Materials
Super chunky yarn (bag pictured was made with 3 skeins of Drops Snow)
8 mm needles
Charms, jump rings and jewelry pliers
Gauge
12 stitches by 16 rows in stockinette stitch = 4x4 inches
Abbreviations
k - knit
p - purl
kfb - knit front and back
ssk - slip, slip, knit
k2tog - knit two together

Instructions
Knitting
Cast on 26 stitches
Row 1: k
Row 2: p
Row 3: k1, kfb, k up to last 2 stitches, kfb, k1
Row 4: p
Repeat rows 3 & 4 a further 4 times (36 stitches)
Row 13: k
Row 14: p
Repeat rows 13 & 14 a further 6 times
Row 27: k1, ssk, k up to last 3 stitches, k2tog, k1
Row 28: p
Repeat rows 27 & 28 a further 4 times (26 stitches)
Row 37: k13, place remaining stitches on a stitch holder. You will now split your work to create two straps for the handle.
Row 1: Cast off 2 stitches purl-wise, p to end of row
Row 2: k
Repeat rows 1 & 2 a further 4 times (3 stitches)
Knit 20 stockinette rows
Cast off
Reattach yarn to the remaining stitches. Begin on the front with a knit row.
Row 1: Cast off 2 stitches knit-wise, k to end of row
Row 2: p
Repeat rows 1 & 2 a further 4 times (3 stitches)
Knit 20 stockinette rows
Cast off
Seam the ends of the straps together.
Repeat all steps to create the other side of the bag.
Seam the two bag pieces together: stitch from the bottom, up one side, over the handles, and down the other side.
Felting
Place the bag in a pillowcase and add it to a load of towels in the washing machine. Use a bit of detergent and run for 1-2 hours at 40 degrees C.
Charming
Using jewelry pliers, insert jump rings into the felted fabric. Hang a charm off the ring and close.
