instructions
Hem the bottom and both short sides of the skirt piece.
Pin and press pleats along the entire width of the skirt piece, approximately 1 inch wide each.
Top tip: Use a fork to easily space your pleats evenly. Insert one prong underneath your fabric and flip the fork over, then pin and press in place. Continue until the entire piece of fabric is pleated.
Sew down 3 inches from the raw edge on the edge of each pleat to secure in place.
Place one of the ties on the raw edge of the skirt piece, good sides together. Center the tie so that even length hangs off each edge. Sew in place.
Press the tie upwards. Press the raw edges of the tie in 1/4 inch.
Fold the tie to the back side of the skirt to encase the raw edge. Stitch across the tie and skirt to secure in place.
Press all edges of the second tie in 1/4 inch and fold the tie in half lengthwise. Center the tie on the skirt and pin in place 3 inches from the top edge, covering the ends of the stitches on each pleat.
Stitch along the top and bottom edges of the tie to secure in place.
